What this is

Signal Box Studio runs an AI production pipeline every day. Listeners get the output at signalbox.studio; writers get the parts at aiwritersworkbench.com. This site is the third window: the evidence.

Studies on AI prose and long-form fiction, published with full methodology, limitations, data availability, and an updates log, under a real byline. The studio measures AI writing because it depends on AI writing — the work is daily, the corpora are real, and the stakes are professional, not academic.

Who publishes this

Our research is overseen by our founder, Jake Kerr, a Nebula and Sturgeon Award–nominated author of science fiction and fantasy whose work has been translated around the world and published in The Year’s Best Science Fiction. In 2023 he launched The Thieves Guild, a narrative podcast that used cutting-edge text-to-speech to bring a full story to listeners with the resources of a single person.

Building on that experience, he founded Signal Box Studio, where he has been the architect of both a full-service AI-driven podcast production pipeline and a bleeding-edge narrative engine that takes stories designed by human storytellers and realizes them through a complex AI process. Together, they are the Signal Box.

How we publish

Every study carries its methodology, its limitations, a data availability statement, and an updates log. AI assistance is disclosed on every study. Drafts are never published. Corrections are appended to the updates log — never quietly edited away. Published URLs never change.

Data policy

Per-book measurement tables (CSV) are downloadable for every study. The generation spec is published. Excerpts are published. The raw AI corpus is available to researchers on request. The human reference index and the full tell catalog are production assets and are not released.

Requests for the raw corpus: press@signalbox.studio.
